DANFOSS OMR 315 REPAIR

Danfoss OMR 315 repair: seal kit or full rebuild?

Oil at the shaft of a Danfoss OMR 315 sends most people straight to the seal. Sometimes that’s right. Often the motor is worn inside, and a new seal only buys a few weeks. One speed reading tells you which you’re dealing with. Below are the real ratings, the kit numbers and a way to decide before you order anything. Advance Hydraulic Works handles hydraulic pump and motor repair and supply from Delhi NCR, and this is how we’d go through it with you.

Danfoss OMR 315 repair: the real ratings

Listings for the common 25 mm shaft version, part number 151-0717, give a displacement of about 315 cm³.Continuous pace is one hundred ninety rpm, continuous torque is three hundred N·m and the pressure drop is 70 bar. Continuous glide is 60 litres in line with minute. Versions with a 32 mm shaft are listed much better, at 550 to 590 N·m and one hundred thirty five bar, so read the datasheet for your actual part wide variety.

Those figures give you a test. Theoretical speed is flow in L/min × 1000 ÷ 315, which comes to about 127 rpm at 40 L/min. A healthy motor lands close to that. A worn one falls short, and it’s easier to measure than to guess.

Danfoss OMR 315 seal kit: which one fits

Two kit numbers come up most often. Part number 151-1277 is listed for OMR Series 5 motors with 25.4 mm cylindrical and tapered shafts, and one dealer says it contains washers, O-rings and the primary seal. Part number 151-1166 is listed for 32 mm shafts and 35 mm tapered shafts in the same series.

The shaft decides the kit. None of the listings we checked names the OMR 315 for either number, so don’t order a Danfoss OMR 315 seal kit by size name, and don’t assume a kit listed for another OMR size covers yours. Danfoss publishes a seal kit survey by motor type, and it warns that the survey can’t cover special versions. Send Advance Hydraulic Works your nameplate part number, shaft diameter and flange, and we’ll match them to a kit before anything ships.

How does the OMR 315 differ from the OMR 250 on a repair test?

The 250 and 315 give about the same continuous torque, but they turn at different speeds on the same oil. At 40 L/min a 250 should run near 160 rpm, since 40,000 ÷ 249.3 is about 160. A 315 should run near 127 rpm.

That gap can fool you. Judge a healthy 315 by the 250’s figure and it looks 20% slow when nothing is wrong. Confirm the displacement on the nameplate before you read the result.

Who makes the parts now?

A Czech reseller lists 151-0717 as replaced by the OMR X 315, part number 11186652, made by White Drive Motors & Steering, formerly Danfoss and Sauer-Danfoss. OMR X listings describe a newer high-pressure shaft seal. Kramp lists a 151-1277 kit under the White brand as fitting the Danfoss number.

Parts from different makers can share dimensions and still differ inside, so check the datasheet for the exact kit or motor you’re offered.

Danfoss OMR 315 repair service: what it costs

These are overseas listings. None is an Advance Hydraulic Works price:

  • Seal kit 151-127700 at €19.01 excluding VAT.
  • White-brand 151-1277 kit at €31.05 excluding VAT.
  • Danfoss-listed 1511277 kit at €48.17.
  • An aftermarket 151-1277 kit at US$65.99.
  • A 151-1166 kit for 32 mm shafts at €58.60, or €39.20 for the White version excluding tax.
  • An OMR X 315 motor, 11186652, at €433.00 excluding tax.

A kit costs roughly 7% of a new motor, but it only helps when the motor is sound. For any Danfoss OMR 315 repair service, ask for a written quote after inspection, Advance Hydraulic Works included.

The method: symptom, speed, oil, version

Start with the symptom: wherein the oil leaks and when it commenced. Then degree shaft velocity at a regarded waft and examine it with the formula. Look at the oil next, checking colour, smell and the filter for water, warmth damage or metal. Last, affirm the model from the nameplate, which means part number, shaft size and flange.

A worked example

Two mixer drives both weep at the shaft. Both are confirmed as 315s on a 40 L/min pump, so theory says about 127 rpm.

Motor A runs unloaded at 122 rpm, which is 96% of theory. Internal wear is small, so a kit should cure it. Motor B only reaches 86 rpm, or 68%. Oil is slipping inside, and a new seal will start leaking again soon. Motor B needs its gerotor set inspected, and probably replaced.

One more trap. If Motor A has a 25 mm shaft, a kit sold for 32 mm or 35 mm tapered shafts is the wrong part, even though both belong to the OMR family. These numbers are illustrative, so use the datasheet for your actual motor, and send your own readings to Advance Hydraulic Works if you’ve taken them.

Implementation steps

1.   Photograph the nameplate, shaft and flange before elimination.

2.   Write down the entire part variety, consisting of 151-0717, and observe any drain port.

3.   Measure velocity against waft and report the result.

4.   Inspect the oil and clear out for water, warmness and metal.

5.   Send the entirety to Advance Hydraulic Works and ask which package fits.

6.   Ask the vendor to nation the maker, component wide variety and warranty in writing.

7.   Open the motor, check out each machined floor, replace all seals and O-earrings, and reassemble the use of the Danfoss manual’s torque values.

8.   Flush the strains, healthy the motor, and run it unloaded first. Then bring it as much as working pressure even as you watch temperature and noise.

The usual mistakes are ordering a kit by size name, skipping the speed test and refitting old O-rings.

FAQs

What is a Danfoss OMR 315 repair service?

Inspection, replacement of worn parts and seals, and a test before the motor goes back on the machine. Ask for the findings and test results in writing.

Which Danfoss OMR 315 seal kit do I need?

It depends on your part number and shaft. Kit 151-1277 is listed for 25.4 mm shafts and 151-1166 for 32 mm and 35 mm tapered shafts. Send your nameplate to Advance Hydraulic Works to confirm.

Can a seal kit fix a leaking Danfoss OMR 315?

Yes, if the leak is external and the motor runs near theoretical speed. If speed has dropped, the kit alone won’t fix it.

How do I know if my Danfoss OMR 315 is worn inside?

Speed falls well below flow × 1000 ÷ 315, and the motor may run hot under load.

Is Danfoss OMR 315 repair cheaper than buying new?

Usually, when the housing and shaft are intact. Compare a written repair quote with a replacement price. Advance Hydraulic Works can give you both.

Your next step

Run the speed test, photograph the nameplate, and send both to Advance Hydraulic Works. You’ll know whether it’s a kit or a rebuild before you spend anything.
